If I put the elite spell Ravenous Gaze on a necro hero's toolbar, will they automatically use it? I get the feeling the only time it works is when the player character activates it for himself/herself. Thanks.

My hero uses it. If your hero is set to Avoid Combat then they won't, but otherwise they should.

Yes, heros set to "avoid" won't use any skills on foes. I noticed that when my hero monks refused to disrupt with Power Drain for energy...
